Fire Hydrant System
Fire hydrant system has been mainly used to fight medium to largely sized fires, the fire hydrant system has a long range and hence firemen find it safe to extinguish large fires; as the fire can be attacked from a long distance and in varied angles. If maintained well the hydrant systems have a long life.
Contemporarily fire hydrant system is no longer limited to hydrant valves and accessories like RRL/CP hoses/Branch pipes. Newer systems like water monitors, foam monitors, tower monitor etc are being used depending upon hazard and is the best extinguishing agent.
Though water has been the principle extinguishing agent foams, foam bladders, deluge valves etc are also being used. The pump house becomes the heart of hydrant system especially when it is designed after the complete hydraulic calculations taking in to account the flow, velocity, Head and pumping capacity with the corresponding reservoir to extinguish the hazard and also provides abundant precaution.
